# Feedstock Accounting

> Track different input materials used in your production processes and perform production accounting on a per-feedstock basis. This allows you to split production into unique feedstock-specific batches, providing granular visibility into how different input materials contribute to your outputs and carbon metrics.

<Note>
  The Feedstocks feature requires activation. Please contact your Mangrove representative to enable this feature for your project.
</Note>

**Common use cases:**

* RNG projects tracking different manure types (dairy, swine, poultry)
* Biochar projects using multiple biomass sources (corn stover, wood chips, agricultural residues)
* Biofuel facilities processing various waste streams
* Any project needing to differentiate production by input material type

## Tracking Feedstocks

### Creating a Feedstock

1. Navigate to **Data Inputs > Feedstocks**
2. Click **Create Feedstock**
3. Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Dairy Manure - Smith Farm")
4. Select a Feedstock Type from the available options
5. Click **Create**

Your new feedstock will appear in the table and is now available for use when creating events.

### Associating Events with Feedstocks

When creating or editing an event in **Data Inputs > Events**, select the appropriate feedstock from the **Feedstock** dropdown. This tags the event data with that feedstock for use in production accounting.

## Production Accounting by Feedstock

When configured for feedstock partitioning, Production Accounting generates a separate batch for each feedstock per accounting period. This splits your production into unique feedstock-specific batches.

**Example:** A project with two feedstocks (Corn and Wheat) running monthly accounting will generate two batches per month—one for each feedstock—with separate calculations and carbon metrics.

### Viewing Feedstock Batches

1. Go to **Production Accounting** and select your ledger
2. The **Feedstock** column shows which feedstock each batch represents
3. Use filters to view batches for specific feedstocks
4. Click a batch to see detailed production calculations and the associated feedstock in the header
